The Peace Monument near the Capital.his feet were "exasperated"!
Guess he figured that was worse off than exhausted!
we saw the backside of the White House...
Had seen the front before so it was nice to get this view.
The other view was closed off due to a private function!

My boyfriend and I finally make it to the Capitol!happy to be riding and not walking anymore!
Hope he doesn't start waving cars down in Huntingdon!
After our big $50 breakfast splurge, we had enough energy and fuel to get us thru a full day in DC!!! It well paid off!
We started the day at the Holocaust Museum. What a sobering place. We were blessed to get tickets to view the entire museum... they say the free tickets are gone by early in the morning. I have always been intrigued by this horrific event in history, and to see footage and hear accounts was, to be honest, a little overwhelming. By the second hour of our visiting, I could not bare seeing anymore footage and was relieved to arrive at the reflection area where you felt a peace and could sit quietly and release some emotions. It brought some good family discussion... we were guarded somewhat with Levi... but Guy was able to really see a glimpse of how monstrous this time in history was.
We left there and began more walking... walking and walking... all over... to the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, the Reflection Pool, the White House, the American History Smithsian's, the Natural History Smithsonian. We thought our last shuttle to the hotel left the mall at 6:15pm, but we were wrong... rather I, the pamphlet reader, was wrong... and we missed the last shuttle.
It really worked out for the best, because we had not yet been to the Capitol, and I really wanted to go there so... we found one of these amazing bicycle people with carts who peddle families around and hopped on! These young men and women work for tips only. We tipped him well... he saved our feet much weariness. Randy... you might could do this as a Bible Quiz fundraiser during the Peavine Festival! LOL!!!
The Capital was so pristine... gentle cool, yes cool breezes were blowing, the sun was beginning to lower, and we gazed at the flag flowing half mast due to the death of 92 year old Senator Byrd. Interesting tidbit... this very staunch democrat was somehow related to my maternal Grandma, maybe I should have told this to get into the White House.
We hailed another Taxi and headed back to the harbour area. The taxi was not as nice as our first one and Levi noticed some peanuts in the floor. He again began his whispering conversation, "Can I get one of those peanuts?"... guess his big bucks breakfast had finally wore off!
